Senator Wants To See Quality Not Quantity From State Schools

Bills for the 2013 South Dakota legislative session are starting to trickle into the legislative research council.  One of those is from the Interim Postsecondary Education Purpose and Funding Study Committee.  It would establish the public purpose and goals of the state’s universities.  Senator Mark Johnston of Sioux Falls was a member of that committee, and Chairs the Senate Education Committee…

The bill would also create the Council on Higher Education Policy Goals, Performance, and Accountability.  Johnston says its not there to take away any authority from the Board of Regents…
