Daugaard Hopeful Trade Trip Will Boost Trade With China

SD Gov. Dennis Daugaard says he believes this week’s trade mission to China will boost South Dakota’s exports to the world’s most populous nation.


Daugaard couldn’t give specifics of some interest in an ag manufacturing facility in SD.


State Agriculture Secretary Walt Bones says one-third of South Dakota’s soybeans are already exported to China. He says Chinese people want American food products to improve their diet.


Daugaard says the delegation is holding 80 meetings with Chinese government agencies and businesses In Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The mission includes representatives of Huron businesses Ag Sense LLC, Lankota Group and Larson Cable Trailers along with Dakota Style of Clark and Ulti-med of De Smet.
