Dry Conditions Could Continue in Parts of Montana and the Dakotas Next Year

Parts of Montana and the Dakotas suffered through major drought conditions this year, and one outlook doesn’t offer much hope for next year.

Dennis Todey with the USDA’s Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa says the trend is often for dry areas to stay dry

Todey says timing of rains will be very important for those drought areas

Along with a La Nina expected late this year into next, the drought outlook through the end of the year calls for continued dry conditions in Montana and much of the Dakotas.
